Padmapani Bora has deep interest in writing and his favourite areas are finance, political economy, and Northeast India. Bora often writes opinion based and scholarly articles in leading newspapers of the Northeast India and some national newspapers too such as The Assam Tribune, The Sentinel, GPlus, LiveMint etc.

Motivating young students in developing leadership skills, aspiring for civil services is another core area of his interest. Apart from attending various orientation programmes in Guwahati and Delhi, Padmapani Bora has extensively addressed students in various educational institutions, like Guwahati University, Cotton University, Royal Global University, Arya Vidyapeeth College, Kaziranga University etc.

Bora is highly involved in promotion of deep routed neo-vaishvaviteassamese culture too in various ways.

Padmapani Bora holds Masters in Political Science from JNU, New Delhi, LLM in Business Law from NALSAR University, Hyderabad and MBA in Finance.  He also completed M.Phil from the School of International Studies, JNU, New Delhi.  He has done a short term course on Public Policy (Economics) from the University of Oxford, UK.

Padmapani Bora is an officer of Indian Revenue Service, 2009 batch. So far, he has worked in the fields of tax administration, investigation and enforcement of law, general administration and e-governance module.

He has attended various national and international trainings and seminars on important issues like national security, intelligence gathering, digital forensic, public procurement policy at the institutions like National Police Academy, Hyderabad, National Intelligence Academy, Delhi, National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur, National Institute of Financial Management, Faridabad. He has attended a Global Relations programme on “Exchange of Information to Combat Offshore Tax Evasion” in Yangzhou, China in July, 2018 organised by the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Paris.

Bora’s first book “Northeast India in India-ASEAN Relations: A Strategic and Developmental Perspective” published in 2013 by Discovery Publishing House, New Delhi received well reviews from the academic world and his next book is in the process of nearing completion.
